I have provided this FAQs page in case you don't know where to go to find the information. There is a variety of questions included, including Canva licensing. We are all looking at the same information online and you must go to the official Canva website/links, which some are provided, if you have questions and to keep yourself updated.

I have gone through Canvas terms and their content commercial use license. However, I do not claim that this information is error - free or that it is complete.

Canva can also change their terms just like every other website out there, so you can keep up to date with that yourself.

These questions and answers will provide greater clarity on some of the most common questions related to Canva and its free content and other useful tips.

1. Canva Not Working?

How can I check if Canva has technical issues? You can use canvastatus.co m to check for any issues. You can also subscribe for updates.
downdetector.co m is another way to find current issues.

2. Canva Storage

How Do I Check My Storage Space on Canva?

Currently there is no way to check your storage used within your Canva account. In a free account you have 5GB of storage. I emailed Canva yesterday the 18th January 2024, asking how I will find out and they replied within 24 hours and said "you will be notified when you are nearing the storage limit."

How Do I Free Up Storage on Canva?
These are two ways you can easily create more space for your PLR templates in Canva.
1. Delete all old unused content to the trash. This can include unused templates, images, graphics and anything you uploaded that you no longer use.
2. Use Google Slides or Google Docs or similar to create informational PDF files instead of using Canva space. It's free to use too! For example, I use Google Slides to create the PDFs with the Canva template access links.
Does Canva Trash Count Towards Storage Allocation?

No, Canva trash does not count towards your storage in a free Canva account.

3.Can I Use My Own Images and Elements?

You Can Upload Your Own Images and Elements to Canva! Yes that's right. You don't have to use just Canva elements. When you upload your own or ones that you purchased elsewhere, they still have to have a commerical license included with them.

Public domain content is usually copyright free and you can use it on templates you intend to sell, but you must double - check the image, graphic etc you intend on using before hand. This information is usually detailed in the page information somewhere.

Creating a unique design using Canva Content

If you want to create a product you can sell, it needs to be an original design.

If you are using any Free or Pro Content in a design you want to sell (whether it is on a product, in a template, or a design for a client) it needs to be an original design.

This means using the Content WITH A COMBINATION OF DESIGN ELEMENTS such as images, videos, audio files, other media, text, illustrations, background features and editing techniques, to make a "new" creative work.

***Point 2 My Understanding - what this means is that you must add in a combination of the design elements mentioned here. This is is not hard to do and you automatically do some of these things when you customize our PLR templates in your free Canva account. You really don't need to be a graphic designer to do this.

How do you know if your design is original enough?

A good question to ask yourself is: is what I’m selling a unique design that I have put creative effort into? Or am I just reselling content I’ve found on Canva with minimal changes?

You cannot sell any Canva content on a standalone basis.

This means you cannot take an element from the Canva library (such as a photo), put it on a t-shirt and sell it. This is not a “design” and would amount to re-selling someone else’s content. This applies whether you are creating the t-shirt yourself, or using a third party print service."

***Point 4 My Understanding - this follows on from point 2 above - we can't just plonk a canva element, photo or graphic on something and sell it. This is why you have to customize templates. Refer to point 2 on how to make your own design according to Canva. I have shown you in our Canva tutorial videos how make amazing unique changes to our templates)

5.What is the Story with Free Canva Templates?

How Do You Get The Free Templates on Canva?

You can create a completely free Canva account. When you have an account you can access their free templates. But bear in mind that you cannot take these and sell them as they are.

You can use them for inspiration to create your own.

And they are free! Our PLR templates have been created from scratch and all you need to do is customize them!

6.Downloading From Canva

How do I Download My Canva Design for Free?

You can download all designs that you create in Canva for free. You can download in an image file like PNG or JPG and in PDF format. Just go to the Share button and select the option you want. Our PLR templates must be downloaded in one of these ways from your free Canva account.

Can I Download the Canva App on My Laptop and Phone?

Yes. Canva have a desktop app and mobile app that you can use. Both are free to download.

Can I download My Templates to My Phone and Laptop?

Yes, you can download to both and save to a dedicated folder so they are easy to find when you want to upload them to your online shop to sell.

7.Devices

Should I Use Canva on My Phone or Laptop?

If you are customizing our templates them I would recommend using your laptop because the screen is bigger.

You can use the phone app however if you don't mind a smaller screen. But it is more fiddly and it depends on what you are editing or creating!

I have used the phone app many times to make small easy changes when I'm not near my laptop. I have found the app very good to use with no glitches. I have been using it for years.

Can You Use Canva on Any Computer?

Yes. Once you have internet connection you can simply log into the web version of Canva. So you never need to worry about losing access to your PLR templates.

8.Canva Licensing

Canva Licensing Explained in Their own Words

This is Matt from the Canva Design School and he brings you Canva licensing explained in Video format. This is very informative and I would recommend everyone to watch it.

What I find interesting is that he says that as long as the Canva design, (element or picture) is part of the overall design with other things then it is safe to use it. You can also see the "Customizing Explained" FAQ on this page for more. I want to dispell any fears that compound from all the information about this topic if I can.

What License Applies To Free Content in Canva? How I can Use Free Content?

You can view the full license terms here.

If you have watched the Canva Licensing Video then you will have seen a simple customization of an image that is perfectly acceptable to use.

There are less restrictions on using Free content than there is to pro.

The following section 6 is quoted directly from Canva on 19 / 1 / 24.

"6. Additional Permitted Uses for Free Content onlyFree Content has fewer restrictions than Pro Content – you can use it in the following additional ways:
1. Use the Free Content in more than one Canva Design without obtaining an additional license;
2. Download the Free Content on a standalone basis; and
3. Use the Free Content in templates for websites, social networking websites, documents, projects or otherwise for distribution and/or sale to third parties;
4. Use the Free Content in design template applications intended for resale, whether online or not, including, without limitation, website templates, Flash templates, business card templates, electronic greeting card templates, and brochure design templates; and
5. Install and use the Free Content in more than one location or post a copy of the content on a network server or web server for use by people employed by or performing services for you."

Remember that you still can't sell the Canva photo, template, graphic, icon etc as a standalone product.

But it can be included in templates for free Canva users when you are selling a customized printable to your customers for their own personal non-commercial use.

Canva have said they can close accounts if these terms are violated so just play by their rules and you have nothing to worry about.

Our PLR templates are created from scratch, so no Canva template has been used and this means it is safe for you to use. Some of our templates do include Canva elements from a free Canva account. All our templates must be customized and changed to look like your own unique creation before you sell them.

In summary, customize or create a new design in a free Canva account with a combination of design elements, such as images, videos, audio files, other media, text, illustrations, background features and editing techniques, to make a "new" creative work.

You can upload free public domain content such as images and graphics. A good place to find these is openclipart.org which is perfect for commercial use. Please double check the license granted to the use of any of their content before you use it. It will state in the content details when you click on it.
