A journal or planner should have several key elements that make them functional, effective and appealing to customers.

Make Our PLR Planners and Journals Uniquely Yours!

These are all things that are within your control and they are free! So be sure to utilize them all, where you can, in your design process and set up process.

Add in a cover page that reflects the theme of your journal or planner.
Add in hyperlinked images of your other digital products if you have more. If not you can add them when you do.
Add in a table of contents for printables with more that 10 pages.
Add in hyperlinks to the table of contents so your customer can jump to content easily.
Create a personalization page for the person to write down their name and the date started.
Include divider pages for sections that also reflect the theme of the planner or journal.
Make it unique to your target audience : what words, images, elements and other graphics resonate with your target audience. You can also include these words, images, elements and other graphics in the appropriate way on your social media content, your website, Etsy and anywhere else you sell your journals and planners.
Clear and descriptive product descriptions with all the features, included pages, sizes included and of course benefits. This means the customer knows exactly what they are getting which will mean less questions for you!

Instant digital download and simple ordering process : Remind the customer in the product description that there is no waiting for their product or extra delivery charges.
Customer service : advise them that you can answer any questions they have about your digital planner or journal.
Pick a theme that is relevant for the journal or planner type : Do a Google, Etsy and social media search for example.
Give people a warm introduction to their printable journal or planner. It does not have to be long winded, just a simple few lines, pleasantly worded.
Give them an overview of the planner layout and how to use it : if this applies.
Add your logo to the cover page or inside page.
Canva QR codes : you can create a QR code for your website or Etsy shop URL and place is on your Canva template.

Text should be a readable size : If the text is too small then this will create a bad experience for your customer and they could give you a bad review which would make other people not buy your products.

Promote Your Digital Products for Free

Take advantage of Instagram’s free business account which lets you showcase your digital planners and journals to millions of people. Find relevant hashtags and pop your shop link to your bio.

Pinterest is also another place you can advertise your digital planners and journals. Pinterest is also free and very user friendly. It also has a professional account which allows you to see how many impressions, views, clicks and saves took place on each of your pins. You can also run ads on Pinterest.

You can post a Pinterest pin from your free Canva account straight to your free Pinterest account.

You can connect your Pinterest account in the settings section on Pinterest.

If you have a personal Pinterest account that you want to convert to a professional account then just go to the settings sections and click on that option and follow the instructions.

Then all you do is create an attractive product pin or information pin in your free Canva account and post them directly to your specific pinterest board.

Other questions you may have:

If a customer buys your digital product on Etsy, then is it a good idea to direct them to my own website outside of Etsy.

Yes it is a good idea.

The most obvious reason is that if Etsy ever closed down then your customers know where to find you.

If Etsy should ever suspend your account then what? People know you have a website. So include your website information in your PDFs as well as your Etsy shop link.

All you are doing is keeping your options open. We don’t focus and invest energy into overthinking Etsy closing and account suspensions but being prepared will make any recovery time shorter or simply non- existent. Whilst also allowing you to get on with designing your PLR templates and creating additional digital products to sell on your own website.

Adding your digital products to your website at the same time as your Etsy shop is the best way to make sure your website is up to date. So when you upload a digital planner or journal to Etsy, then you also upload to your website. Job done!!!

Keeping a blog on your website increases the reasons why a customer or potential customer would visit and then revisit your website. And it’s completely free when you use Payhip for your digital products website.

Should I put my Etsy link or website link in my social media bios?

This really is your choice but I will give you my view.

I would put my website link and not Etsy.

Simply because Etsy is a market place and there are already customers on that track. Your website does not have the same amount of customers…yet!

You will need to let people know your website exists, so putting it in your social bios does exactly that.

People love convenience. Even if you were to have information that tells people you’re on Etsy, the majority will go with what’s in front of them. Which is your website.

Can I use the same images on my website that I use on Etsy?

Yes you can. If your Etsy images are working well then sticking with that will also work for your website.

However if you want to edit them or change them, then you are free to do that too. Just make sure the customer is aware of exactly what they are buying to limit questions and issues down the line.

I would slightly change the product description.

You will also have to change information on the ordering process.

Make sure the website product information is associated with the website purchasing process. If you have mentioned Etsy in your product description then you will need to remove that.
